Fourth of July 2015!

Hello there everyone! I hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July holiday, celebrating our countries independence in 1776.  Sorry I have a degree in History so I had to throw the date in there LOL!  On the 4th we remember how far we have come in these thousands of years, the people who have fought for our freedom and ensuring the lives we live today.  Given recent events- Gay marriage being legal in all 50 States!  I am even more proud of USA's independence and honored and proud to be an American.
With all that said, aside from honoring and celebrating our country in the obvious ways- it is of course a holiday!  People are bbqing with family and friends, having pool parties, having some drinks, and of course setting off and watching fireworks.  We had a pretty easy going day.  Mom & Dad took all the kiddos to see Inside Out- which they had heard nothing but great things about.. unfortunately the majority did not like it.  Then in the late afternoon my Dad & I went to the market and got food for our 4th of July dinner.  We ended up having chicken with corn on the cob and watermelon.  It was delicious!
At about 8pm My Dad & I then took Heidi, Alyx, Mario & Turtle to go watch the fireworks show that being displayed atop the Red Rock Hotels parking garage at 9pm.  We seriously found the most perfect spot in the huge dirt lot across the street from the hotel/parking garage.  We seriously were like front and center for the show- it was perfect!  While we waited for the fireworks show the kids got to watch the fireworks that were being popped off around us- including the other people that had also parked in the dirt lot.  It was pretty cool actually because there was like a huge trench area where they were able to light their fireworks off at a safe distance from everyone and their cars lol.
People brought blankets and beach chairs- and even coolers with drinks to just sit back and watch the show.  Others were playing music and sitting in or on their cars and just chilled.  It was a really cool atmosphere!  It was funny because initially we were going to go take a blanket to the Downtown Summerlin parking lot because they had secured a viewing area to watch the fireworks, but instead of going left we took a right- and it was the best decision ever- seriously- we had 360 views where we were and we wouldn't have had we gone to the parking lot area- plus DTS was surrounded by cops and looked way more crowded than it was worth!
It was a great day/night!  The kids had a lot of fun watching the fireworks show!  They wished there was more- it was only 10 minutes!! Turtle while watching the show even said "now that's what I'm talking about" Dad & I sat in the back of the suburban with the hatch opened and we laid a blanket on the ground and the kids laid on it while watching the fireworks show!

At the movies!

Funny faces and selfies with my loves Turtle & Ryder P.

Waiting for the fireworks show to start!
