A Valley Vacation

Wow, I am finally getting around to wring this.. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to blogging.  I love it, but sometimes I just get so much writers block, that when I go to blog I end up having to just walk away from it and come back later/next day.  I also sometimes write my blog posts in sections.  Is that weird? does anyone else do the same thing?
Anyways, as some of you may know I quit my job last month.  It felt soo good to be done with such a stressful place that treated me so horrible.
So with my schedule all freed up I finally went on a little vacation.. nothing to crazy just back home to The Valley aka Sourthern California, aka Northridge.  It was my parents idea for me to get out of town for a little bit and couldn't agree with them more.  It has been just over a year since I had gotten to visit!
So I made the plan with my best friend Jennifer, for when I wanted to come, and it just so happened that her brothers band Badflower had a show on the Thursday coming up so there was no way I could miss it, it was the first time I was going to get to see them live!
My Dad and I reserved a rental car for me, and on that Wednesday, the 11th of February I picked up said rental, loaded my stuff, said my Goodbyes, and off I went on the 5 hour drive to LA!!

It was a fairly chill vacation because I woke up Tuesday morning with a horrible cough, but was still determined to go on my vacation.  But because of it I had little appetite, and not a lot of energy to do a lot of things besides and relax and sleep.  Which actually sounds like a pretty good vacation anyways, minus the chronic cough!  I tried to not let it get in the way of the few things I got to do though.

On Thursday I got to visit with The Graham Family- Dayna, and finally getting to meet her hubby Tony and their little girl Delilah.  Me & Stef had such a great time visiting with them.  I am sad I didn't take pix, but I was just having such a great time I forgot haha.  Dayna made little appetizers and cocktails for us, it was it was cutest set- up.. thank you again Dayna!!!
on a side-note, Stef & I were leaving and I accidentally fell down their porch stairs.. #iamaklutz

Later that night it was time for the Badflower concert at a local bar in Hollywood called Harvard and Stone.  We all got dolled up for the concert and we were on our way.  The concert was so amazing!  I was so happy I got to see them live now because they have since announced they are joining the Veronicas (an amazing twin sister musical group) for their UK leg of their Sanctified Tour and I could not be more happy and proud of them!  They have worked so hard for this!!
They sang songs I knew, and got to sing along with like "Animal" & "Mother Mary", as well as others I was not as familiar with, but loved dancing along too!  They are so great!  I suggest you check them out on instagram: badflowermusic and their youtube channel:  Badflower Youtube Channel and if you are reading this and live in the UK, check them out on tour!!! You wont be disappointed!!

Friday afternoon I got up and went and a visited long time family friends of mine- the Simon family- Gene, Camille, and Elana.  Just missing Jacey!.  We sat outside and inside just catching up on the past 10 years or so of life.  We literally could have gone on longer talking but we all had plans later that night so I had to go after a couple hours of visiting.

Then came Saturday, February 14th, aka Valentines Day. dun dun dun! lol.. it really isn't that bad!  It actually turned out to be a good day!  We kind of ended up sort of having a singles kickback in the backyard.  A few of us watched a marathon of movies on "Comedy Central" and had some good wine and just chilled.  The weather was amazing, and the vibe was just relaxed.  I got all dolled up for myself and I have to admit, I felt super cute.
I did have a moment of sadness and feeling alone.  I missed "him".  I got triggered by some stuff, but just cried it out for a little bit and then I took a few deep breaths and felt better. It was a pretty good night, and I am sure as the years pass it will sting less and less.  My Mom had also got me a Marsh-mellow Elephant before I left for my vacation, and I saved it for Valentines Day to eat it.  How cute is it?  I almost didn't want to eat it, because it was super cute!

Meanwhile, back at home my Dad took Heidi, Mario & Turtle to a special Valentines Day workshop.  They made Mom V-Day gifts!  How cool right!?  They are currently sitting in the window in our kitchen above our sink!

I decided to just throw this pic in of Ryder. haha!

Back to my vacation.  On Sunday night Jennifer and I went to "Outdoor Grill", a local eatery- I highly recommend it if you have one in your area and have never been.
Then afterwards we went home and a bunch of us watched the SNL40 Anniversary Special on NBC.  It was hilarious and made me feel all nostalgic.  I have been watching SNL since I have been able to haha.  And of course I love watching the classic episodes as well.  The only ridiculous part was Kanye Wests performance.  Sometimes I like him and sometimes I don't. lol! I loved Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallons opening Rap.  They are the most awesome duo, I swear!  When they get together it is like magic is made, ya know what I mean!  My favorite sketch was "the Californians".  HILARIOUS!
We had a good time watching it though, a lot if laughs shared among st us.

Monday was Presidents Day.  Jennifer had to work, but we made it work.  We took our bears that we had picked up at Walgreens at the after Valentines Day sale, as well as the cute little girl she nannies for to, wait for it, wait for it... THE BEACH!!! I was more than excited to be going to the beach.  I feel so at home there.  It was an amazing day.  The weather was perfect, we got some good food to  have a picnic with, it wasn't super crowded, and the waves were perfect!  I got in a little bit, but a wave kinda got me and ended up soaked to about above my knees.  #notplanned I didn't have a change of clothes and spent the whole car ride home soaked lol.  Even that was sort of fun though,
What a perfect way to spend my last full day in Southern California.

I had a final dinner with the girls- Jennifer & Stefanie at Olive Garden.  I seriously hadn't been to that restaurant in forever.. You know I had to have the salad!

Then came Tuesday, February 17th.  Time to go home. =(  I waited as long as I could before leaving.  I didn't want to go.  I finally loaded up my car, said my goodbyes, grabbed a coffee at the drive-thru Starbucks and made my way back to Las Vegas.  It ended up being a super long drive- lots of horrible traffic.  I seriously almost stopped at a hotel on the way and stayed the night.  I finally made my way home around 10 p.m and was welcomed home by my parents.

***I had added a bunch of videos to this post, but for some reason they woun't work, by chance does anyone know to get them to play properly.  it just says youtube and says an error as occurred. thanks in advance***

All in all it was a great vacation.  It sucked that I wasn't feeling 100%, but I made the best of it.  I am sorry to those I didn't get to see, next time for sure!  And thank you to the Katz family for letting me stay at your house for a week.  I appreciate it so much!  I always appreciate your hospitality and you guys are seriously a second family to me! Love you guys!

Whew... did I lose anyone with all these pix?  I know this was a long post!  I hope you guys enjoyed it anyway!  =)

Peace & Love
